research into Indie bands
The video by we are scientists nobody move, nobody gets hurts, One part of the video is shot in a car park, and a star well. Also there is no other people in this video other then the band, we took is idea and used this in the footage we shot in the car park, as the car park was empty, this gave the impression that no one else was around and that we are very important as we have this whole location to our selves.

The Hives where chosen to look at because there video again is made up of performance, this is show at a lot in indie videos. Also the location that they are performing in is often plan is appearance and empty, so that it is just the band playing so that all our focus is on them. We have taken this convention and used it in our own music video by having them perform in an empty location, that is plan to look at, this helps keep the audience forced on our band.
Research into Indie bands
I choose to look at muse because they have a video which is mostly made up of them performing, this seems to be typical of this type of genre. They also have indie styles of clothing as Matt Bellamy is wearing an army style jacket which is very fashionable and in trend. This shows that indie fashion is very up to date with the latest fashion trends. This is something that we tried to show in our video.
Research into Indie bands
All the videos that I have uploaded are similar bands to placebo and the Indie genre. Such as Kasabian, this video have a shot of a car driving past a man walking. This was filmed so that the camera was looking out the window of the car. I really liked this shot so I decided to use this in my own music video.

Youtube was used to find videos of our chosen genre which was Indie. This was so we could look at the conventions of the genre as well as find ideas from other music videos that we could use in ours. This was very helpful because it allowed us to find the types of clothes worn by the band as well as the typical locations which are used.

Blogger this was used though out our project to record ideas, upload videos and pictures of what have influenced use, as well as talk about what we have done. The way to create a post is to click on the link that says “new post” this will bring up a text box for you to type in. If you want to add a video as well to the same post you must “embed the code” from the youtube video you wish to upload, this is done by “copying the code from youtube” then “pasting it into the box on blogger”. If you wish to change the colour of the text on your blog you click on “compose” Then the icon which is a big “T” with little coloured squares next to it. This will give you a colour chart and you pick the colour you wish to use.

Final Cut was used to edit our music video; this was the 1st time that we used final cut. At first final cut was hard to use as we did not know any of the functions. However after a few lessons I was able to get an understanding of how to use Final Cut. An example of this is when I was editing our music the scene I had to edit was the opening shots, This was of all the band walking up to the camera on the roof of an empty car park. First I had to upload the footage, this was done by clicking on the link that said “capture”, and the next step was to click “now”. This allowed the footage to upload on to our final cut project. Ones all the footage had uploaded. I then selected the clip that I would be using. I found the part I wanted to use and then pushed “command I” which means this is the starting point of the footage I wanted to use. I then played the clip until I found which part I wanted to end on for this I pushed “command O” which means this is the end of the section of footage I wanted to use. I then bragged the section of footage down into the sequence. If the section of footage was a little but out of time I just clicked on the cut icon and found the bit that was out of sink and cut the footage so that it would fit. I then deleted the footage that I did not need. When adding effects to the music video I went to “effect” then clicked on the drop down tab and went to “brightness”, I then adjusted the footage until it was clearer to see. After I had done this the footage needed rendering so I went to the tab that said “render” and from there I clicked “Both”, this meant both the footage and the audio.

The combination of my main product and my ancillary texts are good, as I feel there is a clear link between both, as our music video have bright colours added to it, and also the combination of a female singer singing a man’s song also links to my cover as it have half a woman and half a man creating a whole person. Also the song it’s self deals with gay and bi sexuality as it talks about both a woman and man. Also the effects we added to the music video really links to my ancillary texts as they make the video feel very drug trippy which is how I wanted my ancillary texts to feel like.

The aspects that I changed within the music video are the fact we have a woman singing our song but the track was originally done by a man. We did this because we wanted to change the perspective of the song.

Also we tried to follow some of the other conventions such as montage editing, as there is no story in our music video. We also used close ups, of the lead singer to show them looking sexy and trying to get there sex apply across to the audience, we did this by telling Emma to look into the camera as we were filming long shots where used to focuses on the band as a whole showing all the members and what instruments they played within the band.

My music video follows the forms and conventions of real media products such as the use of Rhythmic editing, we used this all the way though are music video, this made the video fell more real as it cuts on the beat of the music. We also follow the conventions of our chosen genre which is Indie/ Alternative. Some of the conventions for this genre are black jeans, bright tops, converse and other fashionable clothing. Examples of this in our music video are when we are performing in PDH. The clothing worn by the lead singer wore a gray cardigan, black glitter tights, shorts and biker boots. This is following the fashion trends linking to the indie genre. When choosing locations to film, we made sure that we used locations that other indie bands would perform in such as an empty car park, shopping centre, stair way and the main performance area is an empty drama room which could be seen as a gig/ stage.

Editting
We uploaded all our new footage and then placed all the footage on top of each other in final cut so that they all line up when we are cutting all the footage down. We downloaded the song that we are using of 'ZAMZAR' which is a music downloading site.
Refilming
We refilmed all of the footage for our music video. We also added some new locations. We filmed in a empty car park, as this links to places where the indie ganra would film. As these are free public spaces where a big open area is a valiable. We also reshot the footage in PDH as the footage before was to dark to really see the lead singer. We filmed using three camera set up around the room so that we got lots of different angles when we where preforming. We then moved the cameras to different places again and repeate the step above. We did this another 2 times. We then used the fig rig to film closes ups of the band as they were performing.

Change to my dvd album
The the changes I have made to my front cover and back are that I blurred the sides of my photos so the join does not look as strong as it did. I also changed the name of the album to Split Persona as this links more to my image used on my front cover. I also added more effects to the images used on the inside of my dvd cover as this goes against the conventions of my genre.

How I made my inside cover
I used the same method to create my inside cover as i did my cover but I created still by using my music video. Did this both in I movie and final cut.
How I made my cover
I created my cover by first using the gradient tool which allowed me to pick a colour skemi, I then choose to use the radical gradient i then added as my background. I then repeated this 3 more times changing the colour skemi each time and the position i started it from. I then changed the opacity of the different layers to create a unique look when all the colours appear together. This gives the background a trippy feel as all the colours are bright and blend together, this links very well with your chosen song. I then used the slice tool to create the lines which i will work in. I use DEFONT.COM to find the styles of writing i wanted to use on my cover onces i had found the styles i wanted to use i downloaded them. They were Vol and Veysel. Vol is used for the name of the band, as i feel this is a modern style but still simple. Veysel is used for the name of the album and the names of the tracks on the dvd album. I then arranged the wording so it starts in the left hand corner and ends in the right, that way it is more likely to catch peoples eyes if they are in a hurry as people read from left to right and if adverts are laid out in this way they are more likely to be read. I then selected the photo i wanted to use on my cover. I opened this up in a separate window and used the rectangular marquee tool to select the part of the photo i wanted to use i then copy and pasted this into my work. Using the scale tool i changed the size and the opacity tool to make the image blend more into the background. I also used the eraser tool to get rid of any of the background which came with the photo. I used the blur tool to make the outline of the images less harsh. I then flatted the image down so that it is all one layer.

Adding Photos to My Inside dvd Cover
In today's lesson I took stills from my music video and added them into my inside cover. This was done by opening up my music video and then selecting the still that i wanted to use. I did this by pressing copy on the still and then saving this into folder. Then opening it up in photo shop and then selecting the bit i wanted to use and then copying and pasting it into my work. I then made the image smaller so that it would fit into my work. This was done by transforming the scale. I also made the image more transparent this was done by double clicking the image and then finding the transparent tool. I reduced the transparencies because the images looked to harsh when they were solid.
